Summer News, 2010

Hi Friends -

A few fun things to report:

The West Coast Jazz Harmonica Summit 2009 DVD has been released. This was Slim's pet project for the last year. It features eight wonderfully diverse jazz harmonicists and was filmed here in Santa Cruz at the Digital Media Factory just under a year ago. Penny and Slim have the stage to themselves for three tunes. Details are here: www.JazzHarmonicaSummit.com.

We're back to our summer fun schedule playing at Seacliff State Beach on Saturdays from 12pm - 2pm and at the Seascape Village Farmer's Market on Sundays from 11am - 2pm. Do stop by and say hi if you're in the area. Details are here. That's all summer long except for August 21 & 22 when Slim will be making his annual pilgrimage to the SPAH convention.

Hot off the press: We just received a copy of Bobby Black's new CD "Steel Guitar Paradise". This beautiful album is chock full of gorgeous Hawaiian steel played by the Bay Area's own Bobby Black (alumnus of Commander Cody, Asleep At The Wheel, New Riders, The Moonlighters, and currently plays with The Lost Weekend Western Swing Band). The CD doesn't appear to be available yet online, but watch for updates at his web site BobbyBlackSteelGuitar.com or catch him at a gig. And what, pray tell, does this have to do with the Penny & Slim newsletter? We are both delighted to have been a part of making this album (Penny on Bass, and Slim on harmonica and guitar).

That's all for now, have a terrific summer!
